entropy and W

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

entropy and W

Hello I was wondering that when we say if something has a higher entropy than something else, does this mean the W is also higher as well?
Also whats the most complicated molecule level we should know how to find the degeneracy(W) of? Like are molecules like BOF2 high enough or should we know how to find the W of molecules more complicated? Thank you.

Re: entropy and W

Hi!

For the first question you have, I would assume so. In the equation S=kB(lnW), kB is the Boltzmann constant, so it will be the same value every time you use it. Therefore, the only variable changing to calculate S would be and this would make W and S directly proportional. So, as W increases, S also increases. As W decreases, S also decreases.

I'm not completely sure, but this is how I thought about it. I hope this helped!
