## Deriving Equations

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

### Deriving Equations

Will we need to know how to derive the equations for delta G? Or will the midterm be only on applying the equations?

### Re: Deriving Equations

I'm pretty sure Dr. Lavelle told us in lecture that we did not have to be able to mathematically derive the equations for the test but that being able to do so is helpful for understanding what the equations mean so that we can apply them correctly.

### Re: Deriving Equations

I'm not 100% about this but in my discussion someone said that we won't need to know how to derive equations on our tests, but they are fair game on the midterm/final. I'm thinking that they may be conceptual questions? I'm pretty sure he wouldn't make us derive it.
