Can someone explain the difference between approaching problems that are at equilibrium vs the ones that are not based on Friday's lecture?

I was under the impression that we really only care about systems at equilibrium because biological systems are at equilibrium. I believe that he just made the reference that if Gn=Gp then the equilibrium is not at equilibrium.

Same thinking here. Biological systems are at equilibrium and our systems are assumed to be so.
