Why is it that if a reaction is spontaneous it will favor the forward reaction?

When reactions are spontaneous, they do not need anything extra to occur. Therefore, these reactions will naturally form products.

A reaction that is spontaneous usually releases energy, so it wants to form products. Forming products favors the forward reaction.
