## Spontaneous Reaction

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \Delta H^{\circ} - T \Delta S^{\circ}$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= -RT\ln K$

$\Delta G^{\circ}= \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(products) - \sum \Delta G_{f}^{\circ}(reactants)$

### Spontaneous Reaction

When enthalpy change and entropy change are negative, why does the spontaneity depend on temperature?

### Re: Spontaneous Reaction

The equation ∆G=∆H-T∆S shows that even if ∆H and ∆S are negative, T can change the value of the second term and affect spontaneity. More specifically, if ∆S is negative, then the second term would be positive, and if T were great enough, it would make ∆G positive, which would make it non spontaneous even if ∆H and ∆S were negative.
