Gibbs Free Energy Meaning
What really is Gibbs Free Energy, and what does it mean for a negative Gibbs Free Energy to result in a spontaneous reaction?

Re: Gibbs Free Energy Meaning
When deltaG is negative, the reaction is spontaneous which means that under the current conditions, the reaction is favorable and will produce the products

Re: Gibbs Free Energy Meaning
G=H-TS. Gibbs free energy is the energy available to do work. It's less than the energy of a system because not all of the energy can be used to do work.

Re: Gibbs Free Energy Meaning
Gibbs free energy is the energy available to do work that can be shifted or morphed. A negative Gibbs free energy results in a spontaneous reaction, meaning the reactants, or initial state, have more free energy than the products, or final state.

Can someone explain this from the learning outcomes: Understand why reaction free energy depends on pressure and the equilibrium constant

Re: Gibbs Free Energy Meaning
Gibbs free energy is the total amount o energy available to preform work as not all the energy of the system can be converted to work since it is impossible to fully convert energy to work as some energy would be lost through other means.

Re: Gibbs Free Energy Meaning
Gibbs free energy is the energy of a system that is free to do work at constant pressure and temperature. As entropy increases, spotenaity increase. Because G=H-TS, as S increases, G decreases, so as G decreases spontaneity increases.
