Re: Spontaneity
When delta G is negative, the forward reaction is spontaneous and the products are more stable.

Re: Spontaneity
Gibbs free energy is the measurement of the maximum reversible work that can be done by a system so a negative GFE change means the system performs work or loses that energy to the surroundings which makes it spontaneous. If the GFE is positive then the forward reaction will not be spontaneous because more energy needs to be added to the system to achieve whatever process is occurring.

Re: Spontaneity
Gabs free energy is the same thing as the amount of work a system can do. Therefore when gabs free energy us negative it is spontaneous as the system is doing work.

Re: Spontaneity
A reaction that absorbs heat and decreases entropy results in a positive delta G which is not favorable and thus not spontaneous. If the reactants have more free energy than the products do, then you have a negative delta G. This is a favorable situation which is why it is considered spontaneous.

Re: Spontaneity
When delta G is negative the product is favored and spontaneous in forward rxn. When delta G is positive reactants are favored and non spontaneous in forward rxn and spontaneous in reverse rxn.
