how do you know if the reaction is a spontaneous process or not?

A reaction is spontaneous of S is positive and G is negative. If the product is more stable than the reactant.

A reaction is spontaneous if delta G is negative and is not spontaneous if delta G is positive.

You can tell that a reaction is spontaneous when Gibbs free energy (delta G) is negative, which means that it is releasing free energy.

Also, to find out what delta g is and to figure out if the reaction is spontaneous, you use the equation: delta G = delta H - T(delta S).

Also, if a question mentions that a chemical reaction is favorable, it means that the reaction is spontaneous.

A spontaneous reaction will have a negative delta G. A non spontaneous reaction will have a positive delta G.

It is a spontaneous reaction when delta G is negative, because it means that the free energy of the reactant is higher than the product.

Delta G (change in Gibbs free energy) would be negative if a spontaneous reaction were to occur.

If entropy is positive, then the reaction is spontaneous. Since "(-deltaG / T) =delta S (of the universe)", if deltaS(of the universe) is positive, then deltaG is negative.

There’s two ways to figure this out. If the total entropy is positive then it is spontaneous. Also if the total Gibbs free energy is negative then it is also spontaneous. It is easier to tell spontaneity from gibbs free energy because it does not require us to know the entropy of the surroundings and the system it only requires us to know the entropy of the system.

If a reaction is spontaneous, then the reaction will proceed without intervention. This applies to real-world situations since figuring out if a reaction will proceed or not is important will commercially producing chemicals and other products
