When a reaction of a system is at equilibrium, why is there no work done by the reaction?

Re: Equilibrium [ENDORSED]
At equilibrium there is no net change and therefore no energy released.
I'll comment on this in class.

Re: Equilibrium
Because there is no net change occurring, no total work is done. That is because the energy is in equilibrium as well.
Re: Equilibrium
At equilibrium, the energy coming in and being released by work are equal. Basically, the net work being done on and by the system is 0 because the energy of the system is at eq.
