Van't Hoff Equations

Postby Ryka Vahidi 1E » Tue Feb 27, 2024 7:57 pm

Can the Van't Hoff equation be used with the reaction quotient? Or can it only be used with the reaction constant?

The Van't Hoff equation can be used with both the reaction quotient (Q) and the equilibrium constant (K). It relates the change in equilibrium constant with temperature to the enthalpy change of the reaction.

The Van't Hoff equation, I believe, is intended to be used with the equilibrium constant K because the equation is meant for a reaction at equilibrium.

Yes, the Van't Hoff equation can be used with the reaction quotient (Q) as well as with the reaction constant (K). The Van't Hoff equation relates the change in the equilibrium constant with temperature.
