### Practice Test

The practice midterm asks us to derive the Van't Hoff equation but I've been told that we don't explicitly need to do this...Is anyone positive on whether we'll have to derive this equation or not?

Hello,
Although I can't say for sure either, I remember Dr.Lavelle saying we wouldn't have to derive anything very sparingly because we would still be responsible for knowing how to manipulate equations to be able to solve a problem. I interpret this as not needing to know a formal derivation, but still being able to understand where the components are from. I figure it'd be better to be safe than sorry? Does anyone else know for sure?

I don't think it's gong to be worded the way it was on the practice exam, but you're probably going to need to know the logistics for a conceptual problem.

We don't need to know how to derive it, only to manipulate/solve it.
