Van't Hoff Equation

Postby Vanessa Rojas 4F » Sat Feb 15, 2020 9:12 pm

In Van't Hoff Equation why is entropy only over the R constant and not temperature as well?

The T cancels because it is in both numerator and denominator

The temperature cancels out in the equation.

The temperature gets cancelled out:

ΔG = ΔH − TΔS = -RTlnK

lnK = (ΔH − TΔS)/(-RT) = ΔH/(-RT) − TΔS/(-RT) = -ΔH/(RT) + ΔS/R

If you do the algebra, you'll see that T cancels out.
