Van Hoff's Constants

Postby DLee_1L » Sun Feb 16, 2020 1:43 am

To use the Van Hoff's equation, are there certain values that need to be assumed to be constant like pressure? Or does it not matter as long as we know the delta h, delta s, and temperature before and after?

On the lecture slides, it says both delta H and delta S are constants.

Since you're using ΔH naught and ΔS naught, assume conditions are standard.

Delta H and Delta s are the constants.

I believe you assume standard conditions.

Delta H and delta S are constant. Even though temperature might change the absolute entropy or enthalpy of a system. the change in that value over a reaction will remain constant over different temperatures.
