Van't Hoff equation
Is the Van't Hoff Equation on the equation sheet, or do we need to derive it? I didn't see it on the sheet but I may just be blind

Re: Van't Hoff equation
What is this equation used for? When would we know to use it or to derive it?

Re: Van't Hoff equation
The equation relates K with temperature and it isn’t on the equation sheet. However, the equations you need to derive it are on the equation sheet.

Re: Van't Hoff equation
The Van't Hoff equation relates K with temperature. K1 corresponds with T1 and K2 corresponds to T2.

Re: Van't Hoff equation
Should we be able to derive both versions of the equation or would just know the main derivation be enough?

Re: Van't Hoff equation
I heard from my TA that you need to know how to derive it for the final. She said points could be given based on deriving it.

Re: Van't Hoff equation
Although this isn't on the equation sheet itself, you should know how to derive it. It basically draws a relationship between temperatures and K values that are changing/ different.

Re: Van't Hoff equation
Since the outline says you should be able to derive the equation, I would recommend it. Also, it isn't given on the constants sheet so it is a good thing to know. During a step-up session one of the UA's said that they had to derive the equation on their final.

Re: Van't Hoff equation
Although derivations of equations will not be on any tests, it is still important to understand them conceptually. So I would say just know it.
