Do we actually have to know how to derive the equation for an exam or just understand what it means/what it does? Should we memorize the final equation?

I believe that we only need to know the final equation at the end of the derivation. We only derive the formula in class to understand where the equation comes from. But I do not think we will be asked to derive any equations or formulas on any test or exam.

I think you should probably know the derivations of equations that aren't on the formula sheet. Also know the derivations if the objectives include knowing the derivation.

I think we mainly do the derivation so we can understand where the equation is coming from. In the event that you do not remember an equation, knowing the derivation is good so you can create the equation for yourself.
