Outline 4 problems

Postby John Calonia 1D » Mon Feb 08, 2021 1:14 pm

For the Outline 4 problems for 5J, I found the correct answers without using the Van't hoff equation? Do we just need top understand the Van't hoff equation at a conceptual level?

One of the bullet points for outline 4 says "Know how to derive and use the van't Hoff equation..." so I think we'll be expected to know it conceptually as well as know how to use it to solve equations. I don't think he expects us to strictly use that on the midterm if there is another way to solve the problem (as long as the other way will produce a correct answer every time) but it's still good to be able to know how to use it.

Yes. In this endorsed post, he says he covered it in class viewtopic.php?f=136&t=60606

I would say to still know how to use it because it says on the outline you should be able to. Although you can solve in a number of different ways, it is still very important you understand the Van Hoff equation and know how to use it. There might be some questions on the final relating to it. Hope this helps!
