Outline 4 van't Hoff bullet point

Postby Megan Singer 3D » Fri Feb 19, 2021 1:07 am

Can someone explain this bullet point from Dr. Lavelle's outline:

• Use a ‘Chemisty’ van't Hoff analysis to calculate ∆H, ∆S and ∆G.

The Van't Hoff is just another relationship between those three variables. However, it includes K and shows the temperature dependence of the equilibrium constant.

I think it just means to be able to use the Van't Hoff Eq that we talked about in Lecture 16!

There's the two different versions on the equation sheet!

Make sure you add the Van't hoff equation to your equation sheet or print the new one for the exam too since he recently added it!

Example 5J.5 in the textbook explains how use van't Hoff's equation really well. Hope this helps.

i believe the van't hoff equation is used in many fields of science but the one we are dealing with is ln(K2/K1)=-({delat}H{degree sign}/R)[(1/T2)-(1/T1)]
