coupling

Postby victoria lu 2c » Tue Feb 20, 2024 10:27 pm

Could someone expand more on the concept of coupling? I know that it uses the released energy from a favorable reaction to drive an unfavorable one. The sum of the delta Gs would have to be negative, right?

Coupling in chemistry refers to the process of using the energy released from a favorable reaction to drive an unfavorable reaction. The sum of the ΔG values for the coupled reactions must be negative for the overall process to proceed spontaneously.
