Postby 006248274 » Sun Mar 17, 2024 10:16 pm

Hi! I'm very confuesed on how to balance the equation in question 18 from weeks 7/8 achieve. Its about balancing hydration compounds but I have no idea how to do it. Even my TA tried doing it and she got the wrong answer.

Hi, i think the correct answer is 4Fe + 3O2 + 6H20 -> 2Fe2O3 * 3H2O

I also got it wrong at first, but apparently it's because Fe2o3∙3H2O is one unit, so the make sure to multiply everything in there by a coefficient of 2. Hope that helps!

The correct answer is 4Fe + 3O2 + 6H20 -> <--2Fe2O3 * 3H2O. You might have got it wrong because of the arrow you used (should be the double arrow and not single one. I would explain the steps but you had the right answer, just wrong format.
