Biological Importances

Postby 705903057 » Mon Mar 18, 2024 11:49 am

What is the significance of redox reactions in biological systems such as cellular respiration, and how do they contribute to energy production and metabolic processes? Additionally, are non-redox reactions common in biological systems, and if so, what roles do they play in cellular functions and biochemical pathways?

Redox reactions are essential especially for the production of ATP during cellular respiration, and are responsible for the movement of electrons among molecules, which drives biological functions. In biology, non-redox reactions are also significant as thy include enzymatic reactions that control metabolism and other biological activities, as well as chemical building and breaking processes.Non-redox processes are involved in the synthesis, degradation, and regulation of molecules, whereas redox reactions are responsible for the creation of energy.
