Write the half-reactions and the balanced equation for the cell reaction for the following galvanic cell.
Ni(s)| Ni[2+] (aq) || Ag+ (aq)| Ag(s)

So this notation translates to Ni(s) + Ag+(aq) --> Ni[2+](aq) +Ag(s). The charges are not balanced in this equation so you must break the reaction into its half-reactions which are:

Ni(s)-->Ni[2+](aq) + 2e
Ag+(aq) + e --> Ag(s)

Now multiply the second reaction by two so the electrons cancel out. Then add the reactants and products together to get the final total reaction:

Ni(s) + 2Ag+(aq) --> Ni[2+](aq) + 2Ag(s)

Now the charges and atoms are balanced. Hope this helps
