Balancing Redox Reactions

Postby PeterTran1C » Wed Feb 14, 2018 11:42 pm

When balancing redox reactions, do we always use water, hydrogens, and oxygens to balance our redox reactions?

Typically for balancing redox reactions, O will be the element you need to balance using water, OH-, and H+ (depending on whether the environment is acidic or basic).

In a redox reaction, a transfer of electrons is shown, which often requires H+ ions to show. In redox reactions containing acids and bases, H2O is a likely product.
