agents
What does it mean to say that something is an oxidizing or reducing agent. I noticed that in the first couple questions, that when electrons were added in half reactions, the solution would call that an oxidizing agents. But in later sessions, when electrons were lost, it was through an oxidation process.

Re: agents
The oxidizing agent acts to oxidize something else. In that sense, the "something else" becomes oxidized, while the oxidizing agent accepts the electrons and becomes reduced.

Re: agents
an agent is just the thing that does the action so for an oxidizing agent it is the thing that does the oxidizing

Re: agents
I just think the oxidation agent is the substance being reduced on the reactants side and the reducing agent is the substance being oxidized on the reactants side.
