Textbook 14.1

Postby Tim Foster 2A » Thu Feb 22, 2018 2:52 pm

In 14.1 part c, why does the answer in the textbook include 14 H- in the reduction half reaction instead of 14H+?

The balanced reduction half reaction should be Cr2O72- (aq) + 14H+ (aq) + 6e- -> 2Cr3+ (aq) + 7H2O (l)

H- does not exist on its own, so this would most likely be an error in the textbook.
