what are the trends for reducing and oxidizing power on the periodic table

the oxidizing power increases as you go to the right and up (similar to electronegativity). The reducing power is the opposite, with elements like lithium being a strong one.

because the elements in the further upper right corner of the periodic table will have a stronger pull for an electron to fill its shells, their oxidizing powers will be stronger.

You can also tell an element's reducing and oxidizing power by looking at its cell potential for the redox reaction. The larger the cell potential number, the more oxidizing power the element has. The smaller the cell potential number, the more reducing power it has.
