Test 2 Material

Postby Giselle1B » Fri Feb 22, 2019 12:51 pm

What subjects should we focus on for test 2? I know that we have to study gibbs free energy and balancing redox reactions but what about entropy and enthalpy?

I'm also curious with this, what should I study?

The only thing I know for sure is that all the content covered during Week 7 will be on the test (e.g. Gibbs free energy and redox reactions, as you already mentioned). Since entropy and enthalpy should belong to the thermodynamics unit, it's entirely possible they will appear as well.

I was told all content from weeks 6 and 7 and since the midterm was week 6 wednesday we only have friday week 6 and week 7

This is what the class website says : "Test 2 covers all topics on Gibbs free energy and electrochemistry up to but not including the Nernst equation (which is all the new material covered in class Weeks 6 and 7)", so I think everything from after the midterm up to Monday

Yes, the class website states that the test will cover Gibbs Free energy and electrochemistry

Do you think he will also have enthalpy and entropy questions imbedded in Gibbs questions, since Gibbs free energy contains a formula that requires both delta H and delta S?

What number is this in the 6th edition?

The test covers everything we learned after the midterm until the end of week 7. Dr. Lavelle's website gives more information regarding the test. "Test 2 covers all topics on Gibbs free energy and electrochemistry up to but not including the Nernst equation (which is all the new material covered in class Weeks 6 and 7)."

I’m not really sure but it wouldn’t hurt to know it just in case
