In high school, I learned to use Leo the lion like Dr. Lavelle said during lecture, but my teacher included an acronym to remember reduction as well, making the entire phrase "Leo the lion goes ger" with GER standing for Gain of Electrons is Reduction.
I don't know if it was just Dr. Lavelle's poor sleep deprived brain that made him forget to complete the phrase, or if he normally just doesn't use it, but I figured it would be good to put it out there in case anyone would benefit from a complete sentence as a memory device

Another helpful one is OIL RIG - Oxidation Is Loss, Reduction is Gain. Although this may be slightly confusing because this does not mention electrons!
