Oxidizing agents are a species that removes electrons from a species being oxidized (and is itself reduced) in a redox reaction. On the other hand, reducing agents are species that supplies electrons to a substance being reduced (and is itself being oxidized) in a redox reaction.

Oxidizing agents are substances that cause other substances to become oxidized which causes themselves to be reduced. For reducing agents, they themselves are oxidized and they cause other substances to be reduced. The main thing to remember is that these names are indicating what these substances are doing to other substances.

Additionally, an oxidizing agent is the thing being reduced, so oxidation number decreases. A reducing agent is the thing being oxidized, so oxidation number increases.

Oxidizing agents gain electrons and are reduced in a reaction whereas reducing agents lose electrons and are oxidized in a reaction.

Oxidizing agents are what’s being reduced and reducing agents are what’s being oxidized.

Oxidizing agents are reduced.
Reducing agents are oxidized.
These get tricky because what they do is opposite of what their names imply. It almost got me on my recent LS7A midterm, haha.

Oxidizing agents remove electrons from a substance in a redox reaction. Reducing agents donates electrons in a redox reaction. In a reaction, the oxidizing agent goes through reduction while the reducing agent goes through oxidation.
Reducing agents also have a lower electronegativity than oxidizing agents.

Reducing agents provide an electron in order for a reduction reaction to occur, therefore losing an electron.
Oxidizing agents take on an electron in order for an oxidation reaction to occur, therefore gaining an electron.

Oxidizing agents are the ones that oxidize, so the remove electrons, while reducing agents are the ones doing the reducing, so they provide the electrons.

Oxidizing agents get reduced while reducing agents get oxidized.

In most reactions, something gets oxidized and reduced. When the product of a reaction gets reduced, the reactant is the oxidizing agent. If the product of a reaction is oxidized, then the reactant is the reducing agent.
