Redox Proton Transfer

Postby 905373636 » Fri Feb 21, 2020 12:25 pm

Will we ever examine proton transfer in redox reactions and how that is linked to electron transfer, as that bit has confused me in bio classes?

Wouldn't the element change if a proton was lost?

Protons aren't transferred, only electrons. Protons are used to balance redox reactions in acidic solutions, however.

I'm pretty sure we will mainly focus on electron transfers in these redox reactions. I wouldn't worry too much about the protons moving around.
