Why is the oxidation number of O3 zero?

Because in order for the all charge of ozone to be zero, the oxidation numbers of all the individual oxygen atoms must add up to zero as well. Since there are three oxygen atoms, the only case in which adding all three oxidation numbers of the individual atoms, as well as all three atoms having identical charges, is if the oxidation number of each oxygen atom is zero.

Well it is the only molecule present and there is no charge so therefore it must be 0.
