**Sun Mar 01, 2020 10:34 pm**I don't understand how the textbook found this answer. The questions asks us to write the chemical equation corresponding to a cell, and I found the correct oxidation and reduction equations, but not the correct full equation.

reduction : Hg2(NO3)2 + 2e- --> 2Hg + 2NO3-

oxidation : 2Hg + 2HCl --> Hg2Cl2 + 2e-

The textbook says that the final equation should be 2HCl + Hg2(NO3)2 --> Hg2Cl2 + 2HNO3,

But the equation that I see is 2HCl + Hg2(NO3)2 --> Hg2Cl2 + 2NO3-.

Where did the textbook find this final part of the equation??
