Weeks 2,3, 4 achieve question 3

Postby Jolene Robles 2H » Mon Dec 04, 2023 2:25 pm

Hello,

For the homework it asks, “what is the wavelength, frequency, and energy of a pulse of light containing 100 of these photons?” And the answer is wavelength symbol, v, and 100E. Can someone breakdown how that is the answer? I was confused on how to go about this question because in the question it mentions 100 and I wanted to know where we plug that number in or how do you solve this question?

Hi! For this question, it was not necessary to use the equation and do some math. Energy (E) is proportional to the number of photons, so if there are 100 photons, the energy of the pulse of light is 100E. The energy of light is expressed in joules per mole of photons but the wavelength and frequency are not so in this case, you would just leave them as their symbols since we don't have more information to calculate them. Hope this helps!
