### Electrons

When an electron is increasing in energy level (n=1,2,...), can someone explain it's energy status a little better? I understand when it decreases in 'n', just need a little more clarification when it increases 'n'. Thank you!

I'm not really sure what you mean about 'energy status' but I'm guessing you mean what happens to the electron as n increases?

So n increases only because the energy of the electron increases. It becomes "excited" and moves to a higher energy shell. This could be from n=1 to n=2, n=1 to n=3, n=2 to n=3, you get the point. This increase in energy is a result of the electron absorbing energy from a photon.

Also just to help establish a connection whenever the electron is excited by the photon you can view the absorption spectrum to find exactly which waves of light the electron is absorbing to move to that higher energy level.
