Wavelength

Postby sylvie_1D » Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:54 pm

Hi, I was wondering if "wavelength" is equivalent to the "period" on a trigonometric graph?

Yes, they are essentially equivalent. Just different vocabulary for a different topic, but as far as i can tell they are synonymous.

Yes, I think so. So, if frequency increases that makes the "period"/ "wavelength" shorter.

Yes, the length of a wave (wavelength) is the equivalent of a period seen on a graph in trigonometry (cos/ or sin graph). We measure the distance or period of both from "peak to peak" as Dr. Lavelle put it during lecture to determine the one cycle of a wave.
