Frequency 1/s or s^-1

Postby Maria Trujillo 1L » Sun Apr 15, 2018 11:05 pm

Hello, in class and on some questions I've noticed that when you solve for frequency which is in Hz, that sometimes it is given in either 1/s or s^-1. Is the way you give Hz relevant to the problem or is it just preference?

So the notation s^-1 is just another way of saying 1/s and are interchangeable.

I believe it is just preference since they mean the same thing, however if the question has certain units it is safer to just use those.

Both 1/s and s^-1 mean the same thing. For example, 1/x and x^-1 are the same. I guess that this is just preference.
