Lambda and nu have an inverse relationship. Lambda multiplied by nu is equal to c or the speed of light in a vacuum. Lambda is equal to the wavelength, while nu is equal to the frequency. Due to their inverse relationship, is the wavelength is increasing, the frequency is decreasing (and visa versa).
Units wise, lamba (wavelength) is represented by meters while nu (frequency) is represented by Hz or 1/s. When you multiply the two, you get m/s which is why the product of the two gives you the speed of light, c.
Based on the equation for the speed of light, c = λ ν, c is a constant, so λ and ν are inversely proportional because they are being multiplied. As one goes up, the other value must go down, and vice versa. For example, if λ, the wavelength goes up in value, the frequency, ν, must respond accordingly and decrease to keep c constant.
