### Frequency vs. Intensity

Can someone clearly differentiate between intensity and frequency?

The intensity of light is determined by how many photons are within it. Frequency is determined by how much energy is in the wave.

For example, in the photoelectric effect, it doesn't matter how many photons are striking a metal, but rather how high the frequency is.

The intensity is the square of the amplitude. So it is determined by the height of the wave. The frequency has to do with the wavelength and the number of oscillations. A long wavelength means fewer oscillations and low frequency.

In regards to light, intensity is the amount of energy per m/s. Frequency is the amount of cycles a wave length occurs within an amount of time.

The intensity of light, when looking at the wave model, depends on how large the amplitude of the wave is. When looking at it based on the quantum model of light, a higher intensity means more photons are involved.
