Difference between Quanta and photons?

What is the difference between quanta and photons as description of light?

I think a "quantum" is an amount, whereas a photon is an actual bundle of energy. This is why a photon is also known as a "quantum of energy".

Hope this helped!

Quanta is the general term for particles or pieces that make up a whole, like how quantum mechanics refers to the mechanisms behind very small objects. Photons are a quantum measurement of light.

Based on this definition,is quanta a smaller unit or measurement than photons?

A photon is the quanta, or smallest measurement, of light.

What unit is this measurement in?

A quanta is the smallest possible measurement of something, typically energy; while a photon is a quantum measurement of light. The energy of a photon can be expressed in eV (electronvolt) and J (joule).
