b)How many values of ml are allowed for an electron in the 6d subshell?

I am not sure how to start this. Should we find the l orbital first?

We know that a 6d subshell equates with a principal quantum number n = 6 and angular momentum quantum number l = 2. Since the allowed values of ml range between -l and l, the total possible values are -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, which means 5 values allowed for ml. Another way to solve for this is using the equation 2l + 1: 2(2) + 1 = 5 values allowed.
