### Light spectrum

Are we supposed to memorize which wavelengths and frequencies correspond to which types of light on the electromagnetic spectrum? If so, are we also supposed to memorize the wavelengths/frequencies of light in the visible spectrum?

Yes, we have to memorize the general order and wavelength of the different types of electromagnetic radiation. My TA said that we should know the general wavelengths of the different colors of visible light as well. She sort of hinted at it coming up on the midterm.

I dont believe we have to have all that memorized, but just incase i suppose it might be sufficient enough to just memorize that of the first (red) and the last (violet). Definitely know that the visible light region is Balmers series, and the ultraviolet region is lymans series.

Yes, you need to know the general order of wavelengths and frequencies as I don't believe it will be provided on the midterm. I'm not sure to what extent we need to know regarding the visible light spectrum but it wouldn't hurt to know the general wavelengths at least.

### Re: Light spectrum

Hi, like everyone has said above, because the wavelengths aren't provided on the constants sheet it's a good idea to memorize at least the general order of wavelengths associated with the EM radiation. Probably wouldn't hurt to know the wavelengths outside the visible light spectrum as well.

I think we should try to memorize the order and wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation. One of the TAs covered a question in which we had to know the wavelength, as it wasn't provided

From what my TA said, we should memorize the order of the EM spectrum and the general wavelengths that correspond with the type of radiation (my TA specified that we should know the wavelengths for visible light). I'm not sure about the frequency though.

### Re: Light spectrum

My TA seemed to think it would be very important for us to know this for the coming midterm.

### Re: Light spectrum

Yes we should know these for the midterm since they are not given on the eq/constant sheet.
