Does atomic spectroscopy support the wave or particle model of light?

hi! I'm pretty sure it's the particle model since energy is proportional to frequency.

Atomic Spectroscopy would support the particle model of light because atoms are only able to absorb a specific set of wavelengths or frequencies given it must match the change in energy between shells like n=1 and n=2. By showing that light is absorbed in only a set wavelength or frequency, it proves that light is a particle with photons of set energy amounts.

Hey, what the others said is completely correct. Just for the sake of clarification, the model of light can be considered as a wave in other experiments, and is even proven by the c = λ ν equation. The equation works for the wave model because as frequency decreases, wavelength increases at an inversely proportional rate, supported by the wave model. Additionally, experiments involving diffraction patterns prove the model of light as a wave. Diffraction patterns are a result of constructive and destructive interference, which is only possible when light works as a wave, as particles cannot create diffraction patterns.

Hi! I am pretty sure that it represents the particle model of light. Atomic spectroscopy shows us that an atom absorbs/emits wavelengths only if it matches a specific amount. This proves to us that the energy of photons are quantized instead of being constant. For this reason plus the ones that previous commenters have already stated, atomic spectroscopy follows the particle model.
