The work function is how much energy is required to remove an electron. The threshold frequency is the frequency of the work function which can be calculated using the
E = hv formula.

The work function determines the amount of energy to remove an electron from a surface. The threshold frequency is the minimum amount of radiation needed for the work function

For the photoelectric effect equation, the work function is the amount of energy required to remove an electron from a surface and the threshold frequency is the frequency found in E=hf.
