Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what is that I am doing wrong for question #4 from the Achieve homework.
The questions I have is "A liquid is exposed to infrared radiation with a wavelength of 4.30×10−4 cm. Assume that all the radiation is absorbed and converted to heat. How many photons are required for the liquid to absorb 51.56 J of heat?"
For this question I have E= 6.626*10^-34 * 2.99792*10^8 / 4.30*10^-6 which gives me 4.619*10^-20. I then do 51.56* 1/4.619*10^-20 which gives me 1.116*10^19.
I'm not sure if the way I am approaching this question is correct or if my calculations are incorrect, but I would appreciate any advice or help in solving this question. Thank you!

Re: Achieve week 2,3,4 Question #4
Hi! The calculations look correct to me but I think the answer should be 1.116 * 1021 based on the last calculation (51.56/ (4.619 * 10-20). Hope that works!

Your calculations are correct, but the exponent in the final answer should be to the 21, not 19. It should be 1.116 * 10^19 in the end :)

It seems that your process of going through this question is correct. All of your equations seem to correct as well it just looks like you may have plugged the numbers into your calculator incorrectly. I would recommend using parentheses between numbers to ensure that you are not mixing numbers up.

It could be a miscalculation because 51.56/4.619x10^-20 should give you 1.116x10^21

Re: Achieve week 2,3,4 Question #4
Hi, I don't have the same number for this question, but the process work seems okay. Just make sure the calculation is right. That might be the part that went wrong, When I am stuck on a question, I always check for calculation and most of the time, that is the problem
