14.15

Why for part a of 14.15 is AgBr separated into Ag and then AgBr for the two half-reactions and not just Ag and then Br?

Br- is just a counterion in this reaction. The compounds that are actively undergoing a redox reaction are AgBr and Ag+.

How do we determine what the counterion is in a reaction?
