Galvanic Cell

Postby Leslie Romo 1C » Sun Feb 07, 2016 6:03 pm

Hi.
I didn't go to lecture when Prof. Lavelle talked about the Galvanic Cell.
Could someone explain to me what the salt bridge is?? I understand what the galvanic cell is for but I'm confused as to why there is a salt bridge

The salt bridge separates the aq solutions and it helps the transfer of electrons so that the overall solution has a neutral charge. As the electrons from anode to cathode, the salt bridge transports a negatively charged ion from the cathode solution the anode and vice versa.
