Why doesn't altering the size of the electrode affect the potential of a cell? Because I thought that the electrode grew in size as the current flowed into the products side.

Size of the electrode doesn't effect the cell potential, which is based ion concentration, and temperature (according to Nernst Equation, as said by midterm solutions). The Nerst Equation: E cell= E initial cell -(RT/nF)*lnQ basically shows that the size of the electrode doesn't matter: n is moles of electrons and Q is based off concentrations, so the size of electrode is not counted in.
