I'm not sure if this helps anyone but it helps me so I figured I'd share:
the anode is on the left and is where oxidation takes place while the cathode is on the right and it's where reduction takes place. all the words relating to the anode side come before alphabetically those on the cathode side:
Anode vs Cathode (A comes before C)
Oxidation vs Reduction (O comes before R)
Left vs Right (L comes before R)

so it's (sort of) alphabetical!

I actually noticed that too while looking over the course reader, and I think it's an awesome memory trick. Thanks for sharing that with everyone!

I really like that trick, thanks so much! Another "trick" I've heard of is OIL RIG in trying to remember the loss/ gain of electrons for oxidation and reduction: OIL = "oxidation is losing", RIG = "reduction is gaining"

Another trick for memorizing oxidation and reduction reactions is "LEO says GER". LEO- Losing Electrons Oxidation, GER- Gaining Electrons Reduction. Hope it helps!
