Cell Diagrams/Salt Bridge

Postby Kendall_Islam_3A » Tue Feb 07, 2017 12:18 pm

If there is no salt bridge in the Galvanic cell, would the double lines represent the porous disk in the cell diagram for that Galvanic cell?

The double line can be used to denote a salt bridge or a porous bridge. It shows that the two half reactions are separated.

Yes the double vertical lines represent a salt bridge or porous disk while also indicating the two half reactions in the cell. What is oxidized will be on the left (anode) and what is reduced will be on the right (cathode).
