Problem 14.15

Problem 14.15 in the textbook asks "Write the half-reactions and devise a galvanic cell (write a cell diagram) to study each of the following reactions."

Part (b) is H(aq)+OH(aq) --> H2O(l), the Brønsted neutralization reaction.

I don't understand how to get the half reactions for this reaction. It seems different from the usual way of solving half reactions.

isolate the reactants, H+ and OH-, and write the half reactions going to the same product, H2O. and utilize O2 gas for the balancing of the Oxygen molecules.

Then decide which one is the anode cathode.
