14.5 part a

Postby Ashley Garcia 2L » Fri Feb 16, 2018 4:37 pm

We are asked to write the cell diagram for the reaction: AgBr(s) <--> Ag+(aq) + Br-(aq).
I am confused about the order in which the ions and molecules are written for the anode portion of the cell diagram:
Ag(s) | AgBr(s) | Br-(aq) || Ag+(aq) | Ag(s)

The half-reaction for the anode is Ag+(aq) + Br-(aq) --> AgBr(s) + e- (so why aren't the ions and molecules written in this order for the anode portion?)

I don't think the order of ions or molecules matter as long as the anode is on the left side and the cathode is on the right side.
